Is showing more of their masculine side damaging women’s relationships and if so how can women regain their feminine energy?
Women fought hard for equality. In the 1920s women marched for the right to vote, and they continued to fight for equal rights in the 1960s and ‘70s. Women wanted to be seen and treated equally in the work force and at home. During this struggle for equality, women understandably gave up a lot of what was considered feminine. We wanted to be taken seriously and respected for our abilities and contributions, so we adopted more masculine characteristics. During this time, some women may have been taught by a strong feminine role model how to depend less on men and to become self-sufficient. I am all for women being equal and doing whatever they want with their lives. We have paid a price, though, for spending so much time in masculine energy.
We seem to have an “either/or” mentality sometimes. We try to be feminine when we are going out on a date or for a special occasion but suppress our feminine side on a daily basis. We get into a habit of acting masculine or using masculine energy, and we forget how to be feminine. We can become confused in our roles and lose an important part of ourselves. We forget that to be feminine is our true nature, and it is ok to act feminine and be feminine and still be successful in the outside world. When we get back together with our partners, it is important to feel and act feminine. I believe this loss of feminine energy is at the core of many of our relationship problems today.
What is masculine and feminine energy anyway? At our cores, we all have a predominate energy that is either masculine or feminine. Generally, women have feminine core energy, and men have masculine core energy. This energy plays a major role in our lives and our relationships. Let’s talk about what it means to have masculine and feminine energy and why it is important to our relationships.
Masculine energy is all about action, doing, thinking, giving, decision-making, analyzing, leading, and problem solving. Masculine energy is all about action and being assertive. Some examples of acting in masculine energy are making lists, giving advice, and accomplishing tasks.
Feminine energy is more about just being, feeling, expressing, intuiting, following, receiving, and being vulnerable and open. Feminine energy tends toward long walks, conversation, candles, perfume, softness, and music. Feminine energy is more about being in the moment instead of doing.
In day-to-day life, men and women act in both masculine and feminine ways. We all have both of these energies inside us and need to utilize both in order to function in life. During most of the day, it is all about balancing these two energies and using them to our advantage to accomplish what we need to do that day. However, our masculine and feminine energy play an important role in our relationships as well. It is this difference in energy that causes the attraction between men and women in relationships, and we want to use this to our advantage with our partners.
Men generally have masculine core energy, and that same energy is generally what they use a lot of at work. When they come home, they can stay in that energy in their relationship. It might need to look a little different when they are interacting with their partners, but the core energy will be the same. Women, on the other hand, spend a great deal of time functioning in masculine energy. It is part of the role we now play in society and is just part of our lives.
We can get out of touch with our feminine energy. It is important for us to find a way to get back in touch with this side of ourselves. I love accomplishing things, but it is exhausting without balance. I love being around masculine energy because then I tap into my feminine energy and feel “at home.” I relax and am able just to be and receive. It rejuvenates me! It also creates great passion in my relationship.
No one has to tell you how to be feminine. You already are inside. It is a matter of tapping into this energy and finding what works for you. There is no specific definition of what feminine energy looks like. Each woman will have her own version. The key is to find what works for you.
